According to the United States Enumeration Bureau, the town/city has a total region of 1.86 square miles (4.82 km2), of which, 1.22 square miles (3.16 km2) is territory and 0.64 square miles (1.66 km2) is water. Due to the relative adjacency of the Ohio River, New Cumberland has been the victim of a several floods.
