Route 50 and West Virginia Route 16; the North Bend Rail Trail also passes through the town. The town was titled for Ellen Mariah Williamson, the eldest daughter of the family that granted a right of way for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad to build their line through the town; an earlier name for the improve was Shumley. Ellenboro was incorporated in 1903. According to the United States Enumeration Bureau, the town has a total region of 1.13 square miles (2.93 km2), all of it land. As of the census of 2010, there were 363 citizens , 160 homeholds, and 109 families living in the town.
